Job type: Part-time (20 hours per week) during the school year (August - May)

Work schedule: Monday through Friday; 2:30pm - 6:15pm

Location: Rockfish Elementary (Afton, VA)

Pay: $25 per hour

Must be at least 21 years old with an endorsement or degree in a child-related field such as elementary education, nursing, or recreation and at least 1 year of child care experience.

• Create daily lesson plans and enrichment activities.
• Help students with their homework assignments.
• Monitor indoor and outdoor time with a focus on safety, cooperative play, and fun.
• Support the positive behavior of students in a respectful, caring, and patient manner.
• Ensure that all classroom rules, policies, and licensing guidelines are adhered to.
• Communicate and interact regularly and appropriately with students, parents, and staff. Maintain positive relationships.
• Meet on a regular basis with other members of the team in planning activities and discussion of individual children’s needs.
• Participate in staff meetings and professional development training.

• Endorsement or degree in a child-related field such as elementary education, nursing, or recreation.
• At least 1 year of experience in licensed childcare or school setting (K-12).
• At least 21 years old with the ability to speak, read, and write in English.
• Basic computer/technology skills.
• Ability to pass background checks, a physical exam, and TB screen or test.
• Ability to lift 40 pounds, work indoors and outdoors, and engage in activity with students.
• Must have reliable, independent transportation.
• Nice-to-have:
  Experience with dual language learners and/or bilingual language skills (English and Spanish).
