A Busy Hospital is seeking an anesthesiologist for locum tenens coverage.

Newport News, Virginia, is only a short drive to Virginia Beach and the Atlantic Ocean. From this central Coastal Virginia location, you can experience ships, history, and the great outdoors.

Day shift coverage is required, with 8- and 10-hour shifts preferred. Pager call coverage is preferred for weeknights and weekends, with overtime not expected but potentially offered based on volume, and holiday shift and call participation preferred. Typical hours are 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Physicians work primarily in a supervisory care team model, medically directing CRNAs at a 1:4 MD-to-CRNA ratio, and may personally perform cases as needed.

The case mix includes general anesthesia for orthopedic, OB, neuro, urology, GYN, endoscopy, and ophthalmology cases, with board certification in general anesthesia required. Core responsibilities include department coordination support, pre-anesthesia assessments, consent verification, anesthetic planning and delivery, induction, maintenance and emergence, physiologic monitoring, and clinical interventions.
