Position: Dental Hygienist SIGN ON BONUS
Location: Madison Heights

Overview

Dental Hygienist SIGN ON BONUS at Johnson Health Center. This posting describes the essential duties and qualifications for the role.

Responsibilities
  • Educates patients on dental disease and preventative home care, including brushing and flossing techniques.
  • Consult with the dentist and other members of the health care team as necessary. Act to facilitate communication between clinical and non-clinical staff.
  • Performs other necessary duties as required by JHC and as directed by the Dentist to meet the goal of providing oral health care services.
  • Performs preventive dental care for patients as prescribed by the Dentist, including dental scaling, prophylaxis, fluoride treatment, taking appropriate diagnostic x-rays, and applying dental sealants.
  • Performs preliminary examination of patient’s dentition and gingiva, including charting existing restorations, any dental pathology, and measuring and recording periodontal pocket depths.
  • Performs suture removal.
  • Cleans instruments, performs tray setup and updates patient’s medical information in the EMR.
  • Physical attendance is an essential element of the job and necessary to perform the essential functions of the Dental Hygienist position.
  • Performs limited administrative functions involving treatment notes and charting for patient dental records and health histories.
  • Attends staff meetings and participates in the JHC QI program.
  • Attends all mandatory OSHA infection control seminars, and follows general OSHA guidelines for infection control, including Universal Precautions.
  • Abides by all JHC infection control policies, including acute response measures in the setting of a public health concern or disease outbreak.

Qualifications
  • Must be a Registered Dental Hygienist.
  • Must be licensed to practice Dental Hygiene in the Commonwealth of Virginia or have the ability to gain access upon hire.
  • Previous experience in a dental setting preferred.
  • Ability to relate effectively with patients and staff.
  • Ability to be qualified in Basic Life Support techniques.
  • Must be able to work independently as a team member in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to make decisions on patient care which reflect professional strength, confidence, and integrity.
Physical Demands and Working Environment

Fast paced office setting with potential travel to other offices. Lifting and/or exerting force up to 35 pounds occasionally. Work requires speaking, sitting, bending, walking, standing, hearing, stooping, kneeling, and repetitive motions.

OSHA high risk position.
