Yorktown Ambassador – York County, Virginia
Provides consistent oversight of the Yorktown Waterfront area and quality customer service to visitors and residents. Assists with questions and concerns, supplies marketing materials, brochures, maps, directions, and information on the free trolley service. Anticipates visitor needs, responds quickly and professionally to requests or inquiries.
Provides basic administrative services at the Yorktown Welcome Center including answering phones, responding to emails, collecting visitor data, restocking marketing materials, monitoring and conveying office supply levels and needs. Conducts routine inspections to ensure cleanliness and maintenance of the welcome center and facilities; reports custodial and maintenance issues to appropriate staff. Interacts with Historic Yorktown businesses to gather feedback and communicates those needs to the relevant county departments or divisions.
May assist with the set‑up and takedown of various events as needed. Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

- High school diploma or equivalent with some public assistance experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience
- Knowledge of colonial history and events desired
- Ability to provide quality customer service and exercise tact and courtesy with local businesses, vendors, contractors, and the public
- Knowledge of historic Yorktown street names and building locations; ability to provide directions to major points of interest
- Minimum age 18 years
- Valid driver’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia with satisfactory driving record
- Acceptable criminal background check
Work performed mostly outdoors and under varying weather conditions. Must operate a utility vehicle, stand for long periods, walk between work areas. May lift up to 50 lbs. and carry equipment.
