Overview
The Recreation Aide is responsible for assisting with daily activities, special events, and programs, while supervising and caring for children with guidance from the supervisory staff for the Spring/Summer Break Programs. Reports directly to the Recreation Specialist or Special Event Coordinator. Camps are located in Carrollton and Windsor.
Responsibilities- Responsible for the safety of all the program participants.
- Applies disciplinary actions in accordance with program guidelines.
- Set up and break down of equipment needed for the operation of the program.
- Paperwork to include, incident/accident reports.
- Required to attend all mandatory trainings mandated by the County or the State.
- Supervision of program participants during program activities.
- Ensure all utilized areas are left in clean and free of clutter.
- Provide assistants at other activities and or programs within the Department of Parks and Recreation.
- Observes all approved safety and health policies and procedures of an employee’s work activities and performs all work tasks safely and healthily in accordance with County policy.
- Performs other assigned duties.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent and six (6) months of related work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Medium work:
Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently or an amount greater than negligible and up to 10 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Requires the use of fingers, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
Hours & Dates
Program Hours: 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Camp is the week of April 6, 2026 - April 10, 2026.
Dates of Employment: Mandatory Spring Break/Summer Survival Workshop TBD. Staff training the week before camp starts. Camp cleanout dates the following Monday and Tuesday after camp ends.
