Overview

This position is located in the Mid-Atlantic Region, Fleet and Family Readiness Program, Fleet Readiness Department in the Fitness/Sports and Deployed Support Department. The purpose of this position is to assist the Fitness Director to provide fitness training and education at the installation serviced. This position is located JEBLC/FT. STORY ROCKWELL HALL GYM.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, market and conduct ongoing fitness programs to provide conditioning for facility users.
  • Instruct individuals and groups in proper conditioning and training for aerobic and muscular fitness, body composition and flexibility.
  • Instruct patrons in proper use of equipment and self-monitored progress by preparing written instructions and procedures for use of equipment and safety of all users.
  • Plan, evaluate and ensure that the fitness program meets the physical development and fitness standards of authorized patrons. Administer the fitness program, instruction on strength conditioning and instruction of fitness equipment.
  • Approach patrons on the fitness floor to provide training tips and correct unsafe or ineffective exercise techniques.
  • Assist with management of the fitness center, including opening/closing the facility, checking user IDs, monitoring towel usage, and returning weights and other material to proper locations. Routinely inspect and clean equipment, perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs, and coordinate major repairs as needed.
  • Provide information and instruction related to nutrition, cardiorespiratory and strength conditioning. Instruct fitness center users on proper and safe use of equipment and resources.
  • Assist with designing and implementing fitness programs in compliance with established rules and regulations. Design and monitor unstructured individualized self-paced programs for users or assist users in developing their own program. Conduct newcomers orientation or equipment orientation classes for military personnel, family members, civilians, retirees, and other eligible users of the facility.
  • May assist fitness instructors utilizing the facility.
  • Provide administrative support to operate the facility as necessary, including registration of user privileges, waiver of liability forms, training schedules, and development/use of computer software programs and other required records.
  • Conduct inventories and maintain property accountability of equipment.
  • Assist in budget preparation and facility needs assessment by providing supporting data for inclusion in the annual budget.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements Conditions of Employment
  • Must pass all applicable records and background checks.
  • Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
  • Must possess and maintain a current driver’s license to drive a government vehicle in the performance of duties may be required.
  • Starting May 7, 2025, non-affiliated individuals requesting access will need a REAL
    -compliant driver’s license or another acceptable form of identification to access CNRMA installations.
Qualifications

  • Position requires a Certified Instructor/Trainer certificate and ability to become certified as a Navy Exercise Leader to teach Command Fitness Leader Course. Must possess a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate and First Aid certificate.
  • Education:

    Major study in general recreation, or related fields such as outdoor recreation; recreation and parks leadership; wild land recreation management; natural resources recreation; youth recreation; public, urban, or community recreation; special populations recreation (e.g., senior citizens, institutional, etc.); or physical education.

  • Experience:
