Location: Maritime Expeditionary Security Group TWO (MESG-2), Training Evaluation Unit (TEU), Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek–Fort Story, Virginia Beach, VA
Security Clearance: Secret (must be eligible at time of award and maintain throughout performance)
Travel: Required. Frequent CONUS travel to convoy ranges and field training locations in VA, NC, RI, FL, and other sites in support of high-risk training evolutions; multi-week travel blocks likely depending on training tempo.
Background: Vectronais seeking a Ground-Qualified High-Risk Training Instructor (HRTI) to support MESG-2 Training Evaluation Unit (TEU) in delivering high-risk live-fire, convoy, and ground security training in support of Maritime Expeditionary Security Force (MESF) deployment certification.
This role supports small arms and crew-served weapons qualifications, tactical convoy operations, ground security tactics, and expeditionary combat skills. The instructor operates in austere environments requiring strict adherence to safety standards, disciplined application of Operational Risk Management (ORM), and the ability to deliver instruction under physically demanding conditions.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:- Deliver classroom and practical instruction in Small Arms and Crew-Served Weapons qualifications (CAT II / CAT III)
- Support Expeditionary Designated Marksman (EDM) instruction and sustainment
- Execute Tactical Convoy Training including maneuver and live-fire convoy operations
- Conduct Ground Security Tactics instruction for Entry Control Points and perimeter defense
- Support Embarked Security Combat Skills range evolutions
- Serve as Range Safety Officer (RSO) for static and dynamic live-fire ranges
- Conduct day and night courses of fire, including use of night vision devices and laser systems
- Perform range setup, vehicle staging, weapons mounting/loading, and target placement
- Conduct operator-level weapons cleaning, maintenance, and minor repairs
- Maintain Instructor training binder and personalized instructional materials
- Complete and maintain required Personnel Qualification Standards (PQS) for watch stations instructed
- Maintain weapons sustainment qualifications in accordance with Navy directives
- Travel to off-site ranges and support Mobile Training Team (MTT) events as required
- Apply and enforce all safety procedures and ORM controls during high-risk evolutions
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (Military Studies, Security Studies, Training Management, or related field)
- Graduate of a certified Navy Instructor Training Course (NEC 9502, 9501, or 9518) or equivalent
- Crew-Served Weapons Instructor, Small Arms Marksmanship Instructor, or equivalent military qualification preferred
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of Maritime Expeditionary Security, Riverine, Naval Coastal Warfare, or Special Operations experience
- Demonstrated experience conducting small arms and CSW live-fire instruction
- Qualified Navy or civilian-equivalent Range Safety Officer for static and dynamic live-fire ranges
Experience conducting tactical convoy operations and maneuver safety oversight - Familiarity with OPNAV high-risk training requirements
- Strong application of ORM in live-fire and vehicle maneuver environments
- Ability to operate in austere field conditions and varied weather environments
- Physical capability to lift up to 50lbs and wear body armor and PPE for extended periods
- Excellent verbal communication and instructional delivery skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Honorable discharge (if prior military service) with favorable reenlistment code
