Location: Maritime Expeditionary Security Group TWO (MESG-2), Training Evaluation Unit (TEU), Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek–Fort Story, Virginia Beach, VA
Security Clearance: Secret (must be eligible at time of award and maintain throughout performance)
Travel: Required. Frequent CONUS travel to military ranges and waterways in VA, NC, RI, FL, and other locations in support of high-risk maritime training evolutions; multi-week travel blocks common depending on training schedule.
Background: Vectrona is seeking a Maritime-Qualified High-Risk Training Instructor (HRTI) to support MESG-2 Training Evaluation Unit (TEU) in executing live-fire, underway, and field training in support of Maritime Expeditionary Security Force (MESF) deployment certification requirements.
This role supports high-risk maritime evolutions involving maneuvering craft, crew-served weapons employment, and coastal security operations. Instructorsoperatein dynamic, high-tempo environments requiring disciplined safety enforcement, deep operational credibility, and the ability to flex across concurrent training evolutions without degrading safety or instructional quality.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:- Deliver classroom and practical instruction in Coastal Security Maritime Training and patrol boat tactical evolutions
- Execute live-fire Crew-Served Weapons (CSW) training from maneuvering craft in littoral environments
- Serve as Range Safety Officer (RSO) for static and dynamic small arms and CSW ranges
- Conduct day and night live-fire courses of fire, including use of laser systems and night vision devices
- Support Coastal Patrol and Warfare Tactics and Live Fire Battle Drills
- Support Coastal / Force Protection (Large) Patrol Boat Tactical Training evolutions
- Perform course preparation including craft staging, weapons mounting/loading, range setup, and target placement
- Conduct operator-level cleaning, maintenance, and minor repair of authorized weapons systems
- Maintain Instructor training binder and personalized instructional materials
- Complete and maintain required Personnel Qualification Standards (PQS) for assigned watch stations
- Maintain weapons qualification and sustainment in accordance with Navy directives
- Participate in curriculum maintenance and updates as required
- Travel to off-site ranges and waterways to support Mobile Training Teams and distributed training events
- Enforce safety procedures and apply Operational Risk Management (ORM) during all training evolutions
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (Military Studies, Security Studies, Training Management, or related field)
- Graduate of a certified Navy Instructor Training Course (NEC 9502, 9501, or 9518) or equivalent
- Crew-Served Weapons Instructor and/or Expeditionary Small Arms Marksmanship Instructor qualifications strongly preferred
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of Maritime Expeditionary Security, Naval Coastal Warfare, Riverine, Coast Riverine, or Special Operations experience
- Demonstrated experience executing CSW live-fire from maneuvering craft
- Qualified Navy or civilian-equivalent Range Safety Officer for static and dynamic live-fire ranges
- Experience in high-risk maritime operations, boat handling environments, and littoral TTPs
- Familiarity with OPNAV high-risk training requirements
- Strong understanding of ORM application in live-fire and underway environments
- Ability to operate in austere maritime and field conditions
- Physical capability to lift up to 50lbs and wear body armor and PPE for extended periods
- Excellent verbal communication and instructional delivery skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Honorable discharge (if prior military service) with favorable reenlistment code
