Security Officer

Overview

Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital is hiring an Armed Security Officer.

Security Officer - Armed, 36 hours/week.

Location:

Virginia Beach, VA.

Work shift:

Rotating.

The Armed Security Officer provides a physically safe and secure environment for patients, visitors and employees at Sentara Hospitals and Free-standing Emergency Departments.

Responsibilities include:

• Active monitoring of Concealed Weapons Detection System(s) at division entrances and reporting weapon findings.
• Securing weapons for safekeeping when necessary.
• Patrolling the campus and monitoring activity in and around buildings and grounds; responding to routine and emergency situations.
• Camera surveillance, maintaining department logs and records, and documenting daily activities.
• Conducting security investigations, evaluating situations, and taking appropriate steps for professional and timely resolution.

Additional duties include ensuring safety standards, exercising discretion regarding the use of weapons, and supporting overall security objectives.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)

• Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record (Required)
• Virginia DCJS – Armed Officer Certificate within 90 days of hire (Required)
• Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) certification by IAHSS within 90 days of hire (Required)

• One year of security experience (Required)
• Former military, law enforcement, or security officer experience preferred
