Job Summary
As a Specialty Sales Associate you will be the face of our company. You get to highlight our brand and image while contributing to building our reputation as a company that values its customers and their opinions. Through your specialty knowledge you will be directly responsible for assisting customers and helping them recognize the need for our products and services. Must be capable of learning about what we sell and are able to articulate our purpose in a manner that is educational, insightful and professional.

- Proactively engage and make a connection with customers.
- Ask questions and listen to customer’s needs.
- Direct customers to merchandise, inform them about upcoming events, promotions, mobile offers, and STAR card.
- Provide premier customer service.
- Cooperate and build positive, inclusive and respectful relationships, taking accountability for your own actions and outcomes.
- Use specific knowledge to demonstrate product features and provide comparisons with similar products.
- When selling clothing or military uniforms, may be required to take upper and lower body measurements for the purpose of ensuring proper fit of tailored articles.
- Maintain store appearance.
- Cross‑sell products and know store layout.
- Make suggestions to customers on latest trends and current promotions based on individual needs.
- Upsell products.
- Learn product features, stay updated on trends, and use company tools and technology to confidently provide customers with product knowledge specifications.
- Use a Point‑of‑Sales system to process cash, exchanges, discounts, gift cards, credit cards, debit cards. Handle cash, count money, and return accurate amounts to customers.
- Complete various forms of paperwork, reports, and reconciliation.
- Handle special order merchandise requests—including ordering, tracking, and providing updates to customers.
- Be responsible for merchandise, complete all inventory processes, and ensure items are properly checked in and accurately ticketed.
- Participate in periodic inventories.
- Adhere to assigned work schedule.
- Accurately and completely follow through on work assignments.
In‑depth technical knowledge of how products work, warranties, and the ability to compare products by features.
Experience1–2 years of retail or relevant work experience required; 6 months of product‑specific experience required.
Communication SkillsStrong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, peers, and management, including professional telephone etiquette.
Mathematical SkillsBasic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to use a calculator and calculate percentages and ratios.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to multi‑task while being attentive to customers and remaining flexible to the needs of the business. Work as part of a team, take initiative independently of direct supervision, and problem‑solve customer needs.
Physical Demands/Work EnvironmentThis position involves constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing for at least two consecutive hours. May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. Vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Involves lifting at least 25 lbs and up to 50 lbs in some departments. Work is typically performed indoors, but may be assigned outdoors depending on location.

General Experience6 months of responsible experience in clerical office, retail, sales, or store work of any kind, where the applicant has demonstrated the ability to perform satisfactorily in the position to be filled.
Substitution of Education for ExperienceGraduation from a 4‑year or senior high school or possession of a General Education Development (GED) certificate may be substituted for experience requirements.
