Responsibilities- Collect and dispose of trash following approved procedures.
- Dust and mop floors following approved procedures.
- Move equipment and products for proper cleaning and return them to correct placement.
- Clean assigned areas using assigned materials and equipment. May require mixing water and detergents in containers to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications.
- Deep clean key areas of the store including but not limited to bathrooms, breakrooms, entryways and other high‑traffic areas to maintain a clean, safe environment for customers and staff.
- Keep cleaning equipment neat and orderly; notify supervisor of supply needs in advance for replenishment.
- Seek out areas requiring cleaning; take initiative to complete tasks.
- Complete all tasks assigned by supervisor.
- Perform tasks in accordance with all federal, state and county guidelines.
- Maintain positive and respectful interactions with both team members and customers, even in difficult situations, in keeping with the organization’s vision and values.
- Project a positive image and serve as a role model for other Team Members.
- Provide a fast and friendly check‑out experience; execute cash handling to standards.
- Engage customers on benefits of Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments.
- Assist with omni‑channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship from Store (SFS).
- Participate in truck unload, stocking, and planogram (POG) processes.
- Support shrink and safety programs.
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company policies to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements; execute Company policies and standards.
- Retail and/or cleaning experience preferred.
- Ability to remain standing for long periods of time.
- Ability to move throughout the store.
- Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching and stretching.
- Lifting heavy boxes and accessing high shelves by ladder or similar equipment.
- Public retail store setting; may involve outdoor work to retrieve shopping carts or while unloading trucks.
- Use of standard commercial cleaners and chemicals from cleaning supplies.
- Climate controlled where possible; some storage areas may not be climate controlled.
- Work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings.
Michaels requires all team members in this role to be at least sixteen (16) years or older.
