This role supports store operations as an Assistant Store Manager, working with minimal supervision to develop and promote a sales culture and outstanding guest service experiences.
Responsibilities- Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests promptly, respond to questions/concerns quickly and courteously, assist with gaming needs, inform guests of promotions, recommend items, apply selling behaviors, and thank guests for shopping at Game Stop.
- Support the shopping environment, visual/operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
- Process guest purchases/returns using the POS system accurately, including making correct changes, bagging merchandise, and providing receipts.
- Respond to guest questions in person or by phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate.
- Promote Game Stop guest benefits, such as new title reservations, trade-in, and Pro Rewards programs.
- Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates on company policies and guidelines.
- Observe associate performance, provide feedback, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed.
- Provide recognition and feedback to associates, and document feedback in the HR system in partnership with the Store Manager.
- Ensure onboarding, job training, and compliance training are completed prior to opening/closing shifts; associates should know policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, and ethics.
- Schedule store associates to follow scheduling guidelines, manage breaks/meals, and supervise staffing to maintain guest service levels.
- Approve payroll, manage paid time off, and verify time worked.
- Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per guidelines; ensure fixtures and equipment are in working order.
- Fulfill Omni-Channel orders and ship daily.
- Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention; inspect packages at closing as needed and report concerns to the Store Manager.
- Support sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative duties.
- Manage store inventory, stock restocking, and organizing products; ensure items are represented and alphabetized on the sales floor.
- Count, balance, and reconcile daily transaction totals in the POS system; complete closeout paperwork and bank deposits per guidelines.
- Verify shipments for discrepancies; record discrepancies and communicate with management; conduct inventories as needed.
- Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls; label boxes and include packing lists.
- Maintain associate and guest safety; report injuries per guidelines.
- Assist in maintaining store records; ensure manuals are up to date.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Adhere to Game Stop policies and procedures and opening/closing procedures.
- Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
- At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
- At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
- Video game knowledge preferred.

- Provide genuine and individualized guest assistance during every visit.
- Clear verbal and written communication;
English proficiency; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet objectives.
- Work independently and in a team; meet performance expectations and attend to safety.
- Operate POS system and perform basic math; complete required paperwork properly.
- Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays; minimum 3 days/week availability.
- Manage pressure, be creative, and solve problems while maintaining guest interactions.
- Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work alone if needed; stand/move for extended periods.
- Physical ability to bend, lift up to 30 lbs, and perform job duties; may include climbing ladders.
- May require onboarding on military base locations related to ranks/insignia.
