Overview
The Lead Restaurant Supervisor provides elevated leadership support to the Restaurant Manager and assists with directing daily front-of-house operations, mentoring team members, and supporting a high-quality guest experience. This role exercises enhanced decision-making authority within established guidelines, supports training and performance development activities, and contributes to financial and operational objectives. The Lead Restaurant Supervisor may be assigned operational leadership responsibilities during designated shifts or as delegated by the Restaurant Manager or Food & Beverage leadership.
ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Operational Oversight
- Serves as Manager-on-Duty during assigned shifts and in the absence of the Restaurant Manager.
- Directs floor operations to ensure consistent execution of service, hospitality, and brand standards.
- Acts as the primary liaison between the front-of-house team, culinary, banquet, and hotel departments to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Conducts daily pre-shift briefings, assigns shift responsibilities, and ensures clear communication between shifts.
- Makes independent operational decisions within established guidelines and standards.
- Provides direction, coaching, and real-time performance feedback to team members.
- Assists with interviewing, selection, onboarding, and training of staff.
- Leads ongoing service training and skills-development programs.
- Supports performance evaluations and participates in corrective counseling when needed.
- Serves as a role model by demonstrating professionalism, teamwork, and service excellence.
- Takes the lead in guest service recovery and resolution of concerns.
- Observes service delivery to ensure excellence in hospitality and consistency in execution.
- Monitors guest feedback and partners with leadership on service-improvement initiatives.
- Promotes a welcoming, engaging, and service-focused dining atmosphere.
- Assists the Restaurant Manager in monitoring labor, supply costs, and productivity.
- Supports revenue-generation initiatives and assists with sales trend analysis.
- Participates in forecasting, budgeting support, and financial reporting activities.
- Ensures purchasing, inventory management, and par levels are maintained.
- Assists with accurate and timely month-end inventory processes.
- Prepares and reviews staff schedules for approval.
- Assigns daily tasks and ensures compliance with cleanliness and service standards.
- Generates department purchase requests for approval.
- Completes shift and operational reports as required.
- Ensures compliance with health department regulations and brand audit requirements.
- Enforces uniform, grooming, and professional appearance standards.
- Promotes and monitors safe work practices and responds to safety concerns promptly.
- Reports unsafe conditions and ensures corrective actions are taken.
- Engages guests in a warm and professional manner, building repeat business and loyalty.
- Maintains expert knowledge of menus, specials, and service procedures.
- Ensures guest requests are handled promptly and courteously.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and direct a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Previous restaurant supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience with scheduling, payroll review, purchasing, and inventory systems preferred.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to analyze information and support business-based decisions.
- Professional demeanor, high level of integrity, and strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Education:
Degree in hospitality or related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Experience:
Minimum one year of supervisory or hospitality leadership experience preferred.
