Veterinary Technician Surgery - SIGN ON BONUS!

Blue Pearl Pet Hospital is hiring an exceptional Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Team.

Pay: $21.00 - $40.00 / hour (starting point dependent on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system).

Sign-On Bonus: up to $3,000 for qualified applicants.

Requirements and expectations:

• Prefer a minimum of two or more years of experience in a veterinary hospital.
• A rotating on-call schedule is required once training is completed.
• A Blue Pearl Surgery Technician is responsible for post-operative client communication and must be able to work independently while contributing to a larger team goal.

As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Place peripheral intravenous catheters in the cephalic vein.
• Perform physical exams; accurately assess heart rate, pulse, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Monitor vital parameters and alert the doctor when abnormal.
• Set up intravenous fluids and administer subcutaneous fluids.
• Operate and troubleshoot all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and manage connections aseptically.
• Monitor patient response to fluid therapy and signs of overload.
