Clinical Magnet is seeking a compassionate and experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead the nursing team within a respected Skilled Nursing Facility in Virginia Beach, VA. Position Summary

As the Director of Nursing in a Skilled Nursing Facility, you will organize, develop, manage, and direct the overall operations of the Nursing Services Department in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.

You will partner closely with the Administrator and Medical Director to ensure the highest quality of care is delivered while maintaining compliance, infection control standards, and best practices in nursing leadership.

The ideal candidate is a clinically sound, team-oriented leader with a positive outlook, strong communication skills, and the ability to provide structure while supporting staff development and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee all nursing department operations
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Collaborate closely with the Administrator and Medical Director
  • Maintain infection control and safety standards
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop nursing staff
  • Monitor quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented culture focused on resident care
  • Build strong relationships with staff, residents, families, and the surrounding community
  • Partner with leadership to identify challenges and implement effective solutions

Qualifications

  • Current, unencumbered RN license in the state of practice
  • Current CPR or BLS certification
  • Previous experience serving as a Director of Nursing required
  • Minimum three years of supervisory experience in a nursing home or healthcare setting (SNF preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of SNF regulations and compliance standards
  • Basic computer proficiency and experience with electronic health records
