Job Duties

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Unit Manager who is committed to delivering exceptional resident-centered care, fostering a positive team environment, and ensuring high-quality clinical outcomes within our Care Center. The Unit Manager is responsible for overseeing the clinical operations of an assigned nursing unit within the facility. This position ensures the delivery of high-quality resident care, supervises nursing staff, coordinates care planning, and maintains regulatory compliance.

The Unit Manager serves as a clinical leader, resource, and mentor to staff, working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to promote resident wellbeing, safety, and satisfaction. The role requires strong leadership, critical thinking, and the ability to manage daily operations in a fast-paced long term care environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct, supervise, and evaluate nursing staff on the assigned unit.
  • Ensure delivery of person-centered care in accordance with care plans, facility policies, and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct clinical assessments and monitor residents’ conditions, reporting significant changes promptly.
  • Oversee medication administration, treatments, and clinical procedures to ensure accuracy and safety.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary care plan meetings and ensure care plans are current and effectively implemented.
  • Coordinate staffing assignments, monitor attendance, and assist with scheduling needs.
  • Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to nursing staff; participate in evaluations and corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with state, federal, and facility requirements.
  • Promote and enforce infection control and safety practices throughout the unit.
  • Serve as a communication liaison between residents, families, nursing staff, and other departments.
  • Address resident or family concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Ensure the unit is survey ready and compliant with all regulatory expectations.
  • Support onboarding and orientation of new nursing staff.
  • Assist with audits, quality improvement activities, and initiatives to enhance resident outcomes.
  • Respond to emergencies and provide leadership and direction during critical situations.
What We’re Looking For
  • Knowledge of nursing practices, long term care regulations, and standards of resident care.
  • Knowledge of infection control procedures, medication administration, and documentation requirements.
  • Experience in supervising and directing nursing staff to ensure effective team performance.
  • Experience in clinical assessment, care planning, and evaluating resident conditions.
  • Experience in conflict resolution, coaching, and performance management.
  • Ability to maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation, set priorities, and adapt to changing workloads and resident needs.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in emergent or complex situations.
  • Ability to model ethical behavior and maintain resident confidentiality.
  • Effective communication skills. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with residents, families, staff, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Strong computer and electronic health record (EHR) documentation skills preferred.
