Registered Nurse, Onsite Inpatient Virtual Care at Sentara Health summary:

Sentara Health is hiring full-time Registered Nurses to staff an onsite centralized Virtual Acute Care hub in Virginia Beach, providing inpatient video-based nursing services (admissions, discharges, med reconciliation, patient teaching) to support bedside teams. The role requires an active RN license, associate's degree (BSN/MSN preferred), BLS (within 90 days), ~5 years recent acute care bedside experience (IMCU/telemetry preferred), and Epic experience preferred.

Shifts are on-site at Sentara Independence (multiple 12-hour shift options, every-other-weekend), with competitive pay, benefits, and opportunities for incentives and professional development.

Overview:

Sentara is hiring Registered Nurses for the Innovative Inpatient Care Model in the Brand-New Centralized Virtual Acute Care Department.

This position is NOT Remote and is located at the Sentara Independence office in Virginia Beach, VA.

Full-time position requires 3-12 hour shifts per week, Sunday through Saturday. Every other weekend availability is required.

9a - 9p or 11a - 11p

Leverage the use of technology to enhance patient care in the hospital and provide support to nurses at the bedside. Virtual RNs can support the team at the bedside to alleviate the workload and provide greater satisfaction for both the patients and the nursing staff. They handle administrative tasks that take significant time but don't require hands-on care. This improves workflow while ensuring patients are fully informed about the care they have received.

Virtual nurses are not a replacement for bedside nurses, instead they serve as an additional member of the hospital care team. Bedside nurses and virtual nurses work together to ensure that patients continue to receive the safest and highest quality of care. Patients communicate with virtual nurses via a HIPAA compliant audio-visual device in the hospital room.

Perform nursing duties via video call with this innovative care model from the Virtual Care hub call center such as admissions, discharges, patient teaching, medication reconciliation, and much more.

Education

• RN-Associate's Degree (Required)

• BSN or MSN preferred

Certification/Licensure

• Registered Nurse License (Required)

• BLS required within 90 days of hire

• NIHSS and ACLS preferred

Experience

• Epic experience preferred

• 5 years of recent acute care bedside nursing experience required, IMCU experience preferred

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay rate for Full Time employment is:$30.38 - $55.38. Additional compensation may be available for this role such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
