Registered Nurse to provide inpatient virtual support from an on-site centralized Virtual Acute Care hub, delivering nursing services via HIPAA-compliant audio-visual technology to assist bedside staff with admissions, discharges, medication reconciliation, patient teaching and administrative tasks. Requires active RN license, 5 years recent acute care bedside experience (IMCU preferred), associate degree minimum (BSN/MSN preferred), BLS within 90 days, and Epic experience preferred.

Overview:
Sentara is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Innovative Inpatient Care Model in the Brand New Centralized Virtual Acute Care Department.
The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing.
The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
This position is NOT Remote and is located at the Sentara Independence office in Virginia Beach, VA.
Full-time position requires 3-12 hour shifts per week, Sunday through Saturday. Every other weekend availability is required.

Leverage the use of technology to enhance patient care in the hospital and provide support to nurses at the bedside. Virtual RNs can support the team at the bedside to alleviate the workload and provide greater satisfaction for both the patients and the nursing staff. They handle administrative tasks that take significant time but don't require hands-on care. This improves workflow while ensuring patients are fully informed about the care they have received.
Virtual nurses are not a replacement for bedside nurses, instead they serve as an additional member of the hospital care team. Bedside nurses and virtual nurses work together to ensure that patients continue to receive the safest and highest quality of care. Patients communicate with virtual nurses via a HIPAA compliant audio-visual device in the hospital room.
Perform nursing duties via video call with this innovative care model from the Virtual Care hub call center such as admissions, discharges, patient teaching, medication reconciliation, and much more.
Education
• RN-Associate's Degree (Required)
• BSN or MSN preferred
Certification/Licensure
• Registered Nurse License (Required)
• BLS required within 90 days of hire
• NIHSS and ACLS preferred
Experience
• Epic experience preferred
• 5 years of recent acute care bedside nursing experience required, IMCU experience preferred

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay rate for Full Time employment is:$30.38 - $55.38. Additional compensation may be available for this role such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
