Job Description

Join our team as a Vertical Lathe Operator, where you will operate a Vertical Turning Lathe (VTL), a large CNC machine specialized in machining heavy, large-diameter cylindrical parts. Your role is critical in turning these components against a stationary cutting tool, ensuring the creation of high-quality, accurate metal parts for industries such as aerospace and energy. Mastery in blueprint reading, G-code, precision measurement, setup, and troubleshooting is essential for success in this position.

• Set up, start, monitor, and observe the VTL machine to ensure efficient operation.
• Interpret blueprints, select tooling, set up fixtures, and install cutting tools for accurate machining.
• Use precision instruments like micrometers, calipers, and bore gauges to inspect parts for required tolerances.
• Perform preventative maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal machine performance.
• Operate forklifts and cranes for safe and efficient loading and unloading of large components.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and machining experience.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and understand geometric tolerances.
• Proficiency with CNC controls, specifically FANUC, and G-code.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail.

• Experience with lathe operations and machining processes.
• Familiarity with material handling equipment such as forklifts and cranes.

The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with occasional overtime on Saturdays based on workflow needs. We employ around 100 staff members, promoting a collaborative and communicative workplace.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Virginia Beach, VA.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $60.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Virginia Beach, VA.
