Resilience Law Group is a modern, full-service family law firm that takes a client-centered approach to provide personalized services, educating, advocating for, and protecting clients' rights throughout the Hampton Roads area and beyond. Our reputable family law firm is expanding and has an immediate opening for a highly driven, organized, and reliable part-time or full-time Legal Assistant in its Virginia Beach office.
As a Legal Assistant, you will be an integral part of our legal team and assist with various tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our firm and meet our objective of client resilience.
- Assist attorneys in preparing legal documents (i.e. discovery, pleadings, orders), correspondence, and court filings
- Maintain and organize client files and case management systems (MyCase) and calendars
- Coordinate communication between attorneys, clients, courts, and third parties
- Schedule appointments, hearings, and conferences
- Answer and respond to phone calls and other direct client communications
- Conduct legal research and gather documentation as needed
- Ensure confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
- Communicate efficiently and courteously with clients, the court, and other staff
- Perform other general administrative duties
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
- Ability to work with legal case management software and online technological platforms
- Able to prioritize work, manage time and deadlines, and have strong organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Have strong research and analytical skills
- High level of professionalism and empathy
- Be self-motivated and take initiative
- Provide a positive, professional, and collaborative work environment
- Have own/reliable transportation
- Accurately record billing and assist the accounting department when needed
- Ideal (but not necessary):
Familiarity with MyCase and VADER - Ideal (but not necessary):
Previous experience as a Legal Assistant, preferably in family law
