** Responsibility and Authority
*** Safety of Navigation, as specified.
* During the watch adhere to Emergency Procedures, as specified.
* The AOOW shall monitor the OOW’s actions & challenge when necessary regarding Bridge Operations, and clearly speak up if he sees anything that in his opinion is wrong.
* When vessel in port, comply with procedures as specified.
* When on watch enter in the deck logbook time and location of entry whenever a Work/Enclosed Spaces Permit is issued, as specified.
* Prepare, in conjunction with the OOW, the pilot card information sheet.
* During the watch monitor the Watertight Doors status, as specified.
* When on watch cooperate to ensure Safe Access to the Vessel, as specified.
* Prepare a handover report prior leaving the vessel, as specified.
* Comply with all the requirements of the SMS – circular letters, procedures, checklists, etc.
* Be familiar with the others assistants watch keeping officers' duties.
* As a watch standing officer, be knowledgeable of all relevant environmental regulations within the itinerary that the vessel is sailing in.
* Attend mooring stations as instructed by the Staff Captain/Captain.
* Ensure that all aspects of company's OH&S are effectively applied during his/her working activities.
* Be familiar with the GMDSS station operation.
* All other duties as assigned.
** Specific requirements for the assigned duties*
* ** BRIDGE WATCH 04-08; 16-20 / NAVIGATION
*** Assist the OOW to ensure that paper and electronic navigational charts required for the itinerary and for planning are available on board as applicable.
* Assist the OOW to correct and update the nautical publications (paper and electronic) and navigational charts (paper and electronic as applicable) up to the latest appropriate Notice to Mariners/correction available.
* Ensure that cancelled paper navigational charts are clearly marked as such, and removed from the bridge (if applicable).
* Daily calculations of sunrise and sunset times and delivery of this information to the Cruise Director and the Information Desk, and notify all Department Heads on time zone changes.
* Assist in Familiarization with the Vessel process for the new joining & lower-ranked Officers as specified.
* Assist the Staff Captain and the Safety Officer concerning emergency drills for guest and crew as needed.
* Cooperate with the Safety Officer in applying instruction and training programs to Crew members, including but not limited to all Safety Drills as needed.
* Assist the OOW in all matters related to Fresh water supply, consumption control and dedicated tanks maintenance; following the respective SMS procedures SMS/PH/P043, SMS/PH/P045 and VSP Operation Manual.
** BRIDGE WATCH 08-12; 20-24 / Life Saving Appliances (LSA)
*** Assist the OOW in maintaining the vessel’s flag inventory.
* Assist the OOW in maintaining pyrotechnics, signaling equipment and appliances.
* Assist the Staff Captain and the Safety Officer concerning emergency drills for guest and crew as needed.
* Assist the OOW in supporting the Safety Officer on inspections of all Lifesaving Equipment, to ensure they are in good working condition, always ready for instant use and in accordance of SOLAS requirements.
* Cooperate with the Safety Officer in applying instruction and training programs to Crew members, including but not limited to all Safety Drills as needed.
** BRIDGE WATCH 00-04; 12-16 / Fire Fighting Equipment (FFE)
*** Assist the OOW in monitoring correct functioning of the electronic instruments and navigational equipment, in cooperation with the Shipboard Technical Department. Any defects shall be reported promptly to the Master.
* In conjunction with the OOW, carry out maintenance checks and test of bridge instruments, including but not limited to the GMDSS station.
