Position: Engineer I/ II

We are hiring a Stormwater Engineer for the Public Works Operations Stormwater Engineering and Construction division. This position will be responsible for the project management and construction of maintenance-related projects such as lake and canal dredging, lake treatment, BMP maintenance, street sweeping, drainage improvements, ditch maintenance, pump stations, and/or pipe rehabilitation. Candidates must be self-motivated, highly organized, and possess excellent writing and communication skills.

This position may be classified as an Engineer I or Engineer II, depending on qualifications and experience of the selected applicant:

Representative work duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Project management for the City's Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects.
  • Review of complex reports and studies for various stormwater infrastructure systems, including conceptual designs, preliminary engineering reports, cost estimates, design calculations or computations, exhibits, plans, drawings, and specifications for culverts, stormwater conveyance channels, pipes or systems, stormwater management facilities, stormwater pump stations.
  • Overall project development, including planning, design, engineering, and construction support.
  • Bid and contract management for design and construction.
  • Conducting and preparing materials for public meetings.
  • Plan review for municipal projects, commercial/residential developments.
  • Conflict resolution with city departments, outside agencies, contractors, and residents.
  • Conduct field work and provide management support.

The successful candidate will work towards Department of Environmental Quality certifications in Stormwater Management and/or Erosion and Sediment Control.

In addition to the minimum requirements, the ideal candidate for this position will have experience listed in the preference below. Candidates with the preferred experience should ensure the information is provided in the application.
