Field/Office Engineer - MEC Industrial
Mass. Electric Construction Co. (MEC) invites applications for the Field/Office Engineer position in our MEC Industrial District.
Position OverviewAs a Field Engineer, you will apply a solid technical foundation to plan, cost, schedule, and supervise field activities. You will support safety‑first construction of tunnels, bridges, and other infrastructure, while traveling and relocating as business demands.
District OverviewMass Electric Construction Co. is a subsidiary of the Kiewit Corporation. Founded in 1928, MEC focuses on high‑skill electrical projects, self‑performing the majority of work and actively pursuing opportunities in the growing industrial market.
LocationOffice base:
Waltham, MA. Projects are nationwide; you will be assigned to locations that match your skill set and company needs. Frequent travel and relocation are required.
- Field engineering, operation planning, cost control, project scheduling, quantity tracking, material procurement, contract administration, estimating, and field activity supervision.
- Perform engineering tasks using standard techniques, addressing minor technical problems during construction.
- Maintain job progress, cost, and material usage records.
- Plan and schedule job segments.
- Investigate incidents, recommend solutions and alternatives.
- Review plans and specifications for material requirements, pricing, and quality.
- Coordinate with suppliers to facilitate material handling and delivery.
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in construction management, civil, electrical, mechanical, engineering technology, or equivalent.
- Minimum GPA of 2.7.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Attention to detail, strong organization, and time‑management skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication.
- Can work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to access all construction site points in varied climates.
- Highly motivated, initiative‑driven, and committed to safety, ethics, and work ethic.
- Strong problem‑solving aptitude and capacity for safety oversight.
- Regular, reliable attendance.
- Meet deadlines and deliver within specified timelines.
- Communicate professionally with supervisors and peers.
- Adhere to safety regulations, warnings, equipment use, and company policies.
- Work normal hours with overtime and weekends as needed.
- May work at multiple sites with varying conditions.
Base Compensation: $89,000–$96,000 per year (subject to education, experience, skillset, and location).
