Come and join the Carrier Availability Support Team (CAST) program! CAST is a 4‑person team comprised of specialists in Combat Systems, Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment, Propulsion Plant, and Hull Mechanical and Electrical Systems.
This is a full‑time position, located in Virginia Beach, VA.
- Prepares and coordinates the plans and schedules for new or existing programs. Determines, monitors, and reviews costs, operational budgets and schedules, and manpower requirements.
- Supports and participates in negotiations with customer.
- Analyzes effects of projects upon various areas such as Engineering, Facilities, and the labor pool to determine the most practical and cost‑efficient methods to obtain the required resources.
- Resolves proposal preparation problems and assesses the progress against established plans and parameters.
- Formulates and recommends corrective action measures such as schedule revisions, manpower adjustments, fund allocations, and work requirements.
- Provide technical support for availability planning, execution, and development of Ship's Force work packages and overall, Depot Availability Work integration and scheduling onboard Aircraft Carriers.
- Provide training, recommendations, and guidance to Ship's Force personnel in industrial availability management, work package development and Ship's Force Production Teams' composition and tracking.
- Develop and maintain availability measures of effectiveness.
- 6 years relevant experience with Bachelor's in related field; 4 years relevant experience with Master's in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience.
- Must have experience in a Senior role in support of the operation and maintenance of Main Propulsion/Nuclear equipment on an Aircraft Carrier (CVN).
- Must have a strong background associated with the shipboard systems and must have experience on the Availability project team.
- Strong technical writing ability and proven capability to communicate effectively to all levels of the Chain of Command.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access).
- Must be a US Citizen and have a current/active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
Bonus Points For
- Proficiency in the shipboard Organizational Maintenance Management System (OMMS) - Next Generation (NG) and the shipyard Advanced Industrial Management (AIM) systems.
- Experience at a Public / Private shipyard engaged in CVN maintenance may be substituted for military experience if the minimum experience is met as outlined in the minimum qualification section.
May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
