When a U.S. Navy ship needs repairs, HII steps in to keep the fleet afloat and ready to serve. You will be part of a team that develops and delivers training programs on electro‑hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems for carriers, including Cargo weapons elevators, Aircraft elevators, Vertical Package Conveyors, and Hanger/Divisional Doors.
What You Will Do- Design and develop technical training shipboard training for all levels of personnel via technical references (Tech Manual, blueprints, drawings, etc.).
- Develop test, visual aids, and criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of training.
- Communicate with customer leadership and build long‑term relationships.
- Develop an in‑house program and practice to identify developmental needs and prepare assignments.
- Be responsible for developing e‑learning and possibly a virtual reality system.
- Utilize student guides and other training aids aboard a U.S. Carrier.
- 6 years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree in a related field; or 4 years with a master’s; or high school diploma and 10 years of experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of training principles, concepts, and practices.
- Current or prior experience as a shipboard electrician.
- Experience communicating with government or related customers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to carry up to 50 lbs of training aids aboard a U.S. Carrier.
- Ability to travel.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD confidential security clearance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain base access credentials.
- U.S. citizenship.
Bonus Points For
- Naval Master Training Specialist preferred.
- Current, valid DoD confidential security clearance or higher.
- Hands‑on experience and/or working knowledge of shipboard mechanical and/or pneumatic systems.
- Hands‑on experience and working knowledge of shipboard electrical and/or electro‑hydraulic systems.
- Advanced knowledge in shipboard aircraft and weapons elevator hydraulic systems; general knowledge in advanced weapons elevator systems.
Must be capable of climbing ladders, standing for extended periods, tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances, and working in an industrial or shipboard environment.
