Construction Specialist

Arbor Metrics Solutions, LLC is seeking an Environmental Construction Specialist to work on electric utility construction projects. The position is field‑based and requires strong environmental compliance experience related to land clearing and linear construction projects.

Pay Range

Base pay: $26.00/hr – $34.00/hr actual pay will be based on skills and experience.

Responsibilities
  • Provide environmental compliance oversight for transmission site development and linear transmission line construction projects.
  • Conduct inspections and ensure compliance with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP).
  • Ensure compliance with wetland access, protected species, wood and debris disposal, site control, and soil disturbance laws.
  • Document pre‑ and post‑work field conditions to verify permit compliance and identify any mitigation or restoration requirements.
  • Perform erosion, sediment, stormwater management, and pollution prevention inspections for applicable construction projects.
  • Interpret complex plans and drawings and promote good public relations.
  • Attend pre‑construction, constructability, and status meetings; oversee site development crews and sediment/erosion control contractors.
  • Monitor and report project status; communicate daily with the utility client, contractors, landowners, and the public.
  • Assist in developing recommendations on future right‑of‑way maintenance requirements.
  • Drive a company vehicle safely to work locations and assume other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in environmental science, construction management, building science, or a related field.
  • 1‑5 years of experience in site development work, permitting utility construction, environmental compliance, or a related field.
  • Solid understanding of NPDES Construction General Permit (CGP) Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) implementation and inspections.
  • Strong public relations skills and ability to interface with the public.
  • Willingness to work alone outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain.
  • Basic computer skills and a valid driver’s license.
Desirable
  • Background in electric transmission construction, pipeline, or utility field.
  • Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) book knowledge.
  • CESSWI (Certified Erosion and Sediment/Stormwater Inspector).
  • Previous construction crew oversight experience.
  • GIS experience and strong knowledge of ANSI Z133 safety standards.
  • Military background and bi‑lingual (English and Spanish) are a plus.
Physical Requirements

The role requires working alone in an outdoor field environment, walking/hiking up to 10 miles per day, standing, sitting, operating a motor vehicle for prolonged periods, stooping, bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and repetitive hand, arm, and shoulder movements. Physical strength to lift up to 60 pounds and operate field equipment is required.
