SURTASS Field Support Team (FST) Manager Overview

As we continue to grow, V2X intends to welcome the Surveillance Towed Array Sensor System (SURTASS) Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Technician Crew members and Field Support Team (FST) Program to our extensive portfolio of similar O&M/S programs. The Program provides an on‑demand, mobile, and active/passive maritime surveillance capability in support of Joint and Naval Task Force commanders via towed acoustic sensor systems.

  • Fleet Systems Engineer Team (FSET) program – support to the U.S. Navy on complex C4

    ISR systems.
  • Mobile Sensors (COBRA KING) Radar and Communication O&M/S program – supporting vessels such as the U.S. Naval Ship (USNS) Howard O. Lorenzen.
  • COBRA DANE Radar O&M/S program – operating at Eareckson Air Station, Shemya Island, Alaska, for over 50 years.
  • The Hughes Air Defense Radar (HADR) Sustainment program – SME and depot support of radars located in Taiwan.
  • Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station, Pacific (NCTAMS PAC) program – facilitating key communication requirements from Hawaii and Australia.
  • Japanese – Auxiliary Oceanographic Surveillance (J‑AOS) – long history of providing key Field Support.

In performance of this mission, V2X is seeking an experienced Field Support Team (FST) Manager to work at the Integrated Undersea Surveillance System (IUSS) Operations Support Center (IOSC) on Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek – Fort Story, VA (JEBLCFS) 40‑hour per week. This position is contingent upon successful contract award to V2X.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee technical assistance to mission systems to troubleshoot, repair, test, and return to service.
  • Manage all tenets of In‑Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) responsibilities per SPAWARINST 5400 series and intermediate depot level maintenance on mission systems and support handling equipment.
  • Lead development of reports on mission systems status as directed by the Government.
  • Recommend and establish refresher training (REFTRA) in accordance with established requirements.
  • Lead review of Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Engineering Changes (ECs), and Requests for Variance (RFVs), and develop schedules for implementation.
  • Maintain the program‑level WILD trouble ticket application to log all maintenance trouble tickets for action in the Job Sequence Number (JSN) / Military Sealift Command (MSC) Work Request (WKRQ) log.
  • Review technical manuals, publications, and maintenance procedures; recommend revisions to the Government.
  • Ensure the program identifies and reports system/software design problems and deficiencies for mission systems.
  • Establish on‑the‑job training (OJT) technical training and document training as required.
  • Provide FST support to Physical Configuration Audits (PCAs), Functional Configuration Audits (FCAs), In‑Process Reviews (IPRs), and Integrated Logistics Overhauls (ILOs).
  • Plan and execute Reliability, Maintainability, and Availability (RM&A) analysis of mission system.
  • Perform configuration management services for SURTASS mission systems.
  • Update and maintain Technical Data Packages (TDP) for mission systems.
  • Perform exterior maintenance and preservation on modular mission systems.
  • Participate in Material Assessment and Readiness Testing (SMART) inspections.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification within 12 months.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform assigned taskings.
  • Valid U.S. passport.
