The GBS Group is an engineering services and consulting firm located in the Virginia Beach area. This hourly position reports to the GBS Field Service Manager and assists in managing field service and installation work across the United States and overseas. The role requires leadership of field teams, coordination with customers and internal stakeholders, and development of cost estimates for future projects.
Responsibilities- Manage assigned field service and installation work at various locations, including work preparation, material identification, logistics, personnel assignment, quality control, scope changes, testing, and post-work close‑out.
- Lead and mentor an electrical technician crew of 15–20 personnel across multiple teams and locations, ensuring safety, work quality, training, and material logistics.
- Coordinate with onsite leads, customer representatives, and shipyard personnel to report daily progress, supply needs, and issue resolution for efficient workflow.
- Work with the GBS Field Service Manager to assign personnel, develop material and consumable lists, and coordinate logistics to and from job sites.
- Develop cost estimates for labor hours and materials for upcoming work, collaborating with Engineering, Supply Chain Management, and Maritime Sales teams to produce comprehensive proposals.
- Review and approve Field Service Reports and other contract deliverables for customers.
- Assist the FSM with administrative tasks, including timesheet reporting, project and material management, quality assurance, and technical documentation.
- 15+ years of experience in the commercial maritime engineering/production industry, supervising electrical work teams in shipboard environments.
- 5+ years of experience developing cost estimates for marine shipboard work.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
- Experience managing multiple collaborative teams.
- Travel requirement: 10–15%.
- Experience managing commercial maritime ship repair and upgrade work under firm‑fixed‑price contracts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to evaluate and improve project processes and develop change alternatives.
- Strong prioritization, organization, and multitasking skills.
