Tidewater Community College has served South Hampton Roads – both students and employers – for 50 years. It has grown from 1 campus into a regional educational and economic force. TCC is the largest provider of higher education and workforce services in Hampton Roads, enrolling nearly 25,000 students in 2024-25. Founded in 1968 as a part of the Virginia Community College System, Tidewater Community College (TCC) services South Hampton Roads with 4 campuses in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach, 7 regional centers and 2 important cultural institutions.
The college had 3,399 graduates in , 40 percent of whom pursued degrees that would let them transfer to 4-year institutions. Of South Hampton Roads residents enrolled in higher education 33% enrolled ’s institutional accreditation is affirmed through 2027 by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. The purpose of this position is to support the Office of Admission and Enrollment Services.
The incumbent implements and executes policies and procedures prescribed by the Office of Admissions and Enrollment, to include processing applications for admissions, scanning admissions documents, processing registrations and related documents, serving as part of the college-wide recruitment team, and serving as the alternative domicile officer.
- Knowledge of effective customer services techniques
- Ability to work effectively and communicate with students of diverse backgrounds
- Ability to work as a team member in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge and ability to interpret, apply and communicate VCCS, FERPA, and college policies and procedures as it relates to admission, enrollment, records and grades
- Knowledge of recruitment and college matriculation process, especially as applied to community college education
- Ability to train and support part-time staff and student workers in carrying out the functions of the admissions office which includes information programs, campus tours, and accurate completion of admissions documents
- Ability to collaborate with campus faculty, staff, and college-wide offices to plan and implement student recruitment and admissions activities
- Ability to organize and maintain files
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suites
