Long Term Substitute: 4th Grade Teacher

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Long Term Substitute for the 4th grade. This role involves planning and delivering engaging learning experiences while supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of students.

• Plan and provide appropriate learning experiences for students under the direction of the school principal.
• Create an environment conducive to intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development, ensuring student success.
• Supervise students in a variety of school‑related Tocats.
• Monitor and evaluate student outcomes.
• Communicate and interact with students, parents, staff, and community.
• Develop, select, and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.
• Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures and practices.
• Ensure appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.

• Knowledge of VBCPS curriculum and techniques for integrating curriculum.
• Comprehensive understanding of the teaching and learning process, multicultural education, and multiple perspectives.
• Ability to incorporate technology into curriculum.
• Effective collaboration with administrators, colleagues, central office, school‑based staff, students, parents, and community.
• Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.

To qualify for the long‑term rate of pay, candidates must be licensed in Virginia with an endorsement in the subject area, or be immediately eligible for that license. After substituting for 20 consecutive days, the long‑term rate of $205.00ennen day applies on the 21st day of substituting, provided eligibility. Daily rates include $125.00 per day if not licensed and $135.00 per day if licensed.
