Essential Duties- Serves as the primary contact for all student contact (walk-ins, phone calls, emails, etc.) during specified office hours)
- Navigates and assists the students through the process of requesting accommodations
- Reviews documentation and identifies students' needs for accommodations
- Approves and notifies student of reasonable accommodations; also navigates the process of denying accommodations and working with students to determine next steps
- Maintains and protects confidentiality of students with disabilities
- Collaborates with faculty to ensure ADA compliance and effective implementation of identified accommodations
- Fulfills accommodations such as alternative text requests, transcription/captioning services, etc. are fulfilled in an efficient and timely fashion
- Arranges and completes case conferences with students and other staff members to investigate and resolve concerns regarding accommodations
- Assists in developing institutional policies and procedures relevant to the ADA and affecting students with disabilities
- Conducts workshops and in-service trainings
- Keeps current with interpretations of ADA law related to accessibility and student services within higher education
- Maintains and updates confidential student files to include their documentation, emails, other forms of contact, etc.
- Participates and assists in the provision of student accommodations & general accessibility services during the University’s Commencement & Commissioning
- Collaborates on office-wide projects/growth measures.
- Bachelor’s Degree required. Should be in a field such as counseling, psychology, social work, special education, or disability related field. Outside fields may be considered.
