General responsibilities involve planning and providing appropriate learning experiences, creating an environment conducive to students’ intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development, supervising students, monitoring and evaluating outcomes, communicating with students, parents, staff, and community, developing and modifying instructional plans, maintaining records, and ensuring proper use and care of equipment and facilities.

Under direction of the school principal, plan and provide for appropriate learning experiences for students. Provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student. Supervise students in a variety of school related settings. Monitor and evaluate student outcomes. Communicate and interact with students, parents, staff, and community. Develop, select, and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.

Maintain appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices. Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.

Knowledge of VBCPS curriculum and techniques for integrating curriculum, VBCPS policies and effective instructional practices; thorough understanding of the teaching and learning process; ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education; ability to infuse technology into curriculum; ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office, school based staff, students, parents and community; excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.

Salary Range:
From/To. Anticipated Start/End Date: TBD. Substitute Daily Rate: $125.00 per day if not licensed; $135.00 per day if licensed. Substitute Long-term Rate: $205.00 per day. To be eligible for the long-term rate of pay, qualified candidates must be licensed in Virginia with an endorsement in the subject area, or be immediately eligible for that license. After substituting for 20 consecutive days, the long-term rate applies on the 21st day, if eligible.

Qualified candidates must be endorsed to teach the subject at the school level or be eligible for a teaching license in the subject area. Start Date TBD.
