Our client is a multifaceted Class A General Contractor that is focused on government construction. Their team has extensive experience in all aspects of construction, including roofing, environmental management, engineering services, and manufacturing. The client's objective at the end of each project is for the client to feel like their team has exceeded their expectations - that they received a superior product of exceptional value that was delivered on time and within the established budget.

They are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to be the direct liaison with the Government Contracting Official/Owner as well as directing the daily activities of subcontractors and vendors to ensure compliance with contract documents, safety rules, and quality/security requirements to maximize production and eliminate disruptions and downtime. Ensures the construction schedule and budget are kept in accordance to plan.

Workplace Type: Full-Time, Onsite. Virginia Beach, VA.

Compensation: $90 - 100K per year.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures to comply with legal regulations and OSHA standards.

• Carry out a policy of courtesy, professionalism, and superior customer service.

• Maintain a thorough understanding of Federal construction industry practices and standards.

• Meet operational standards by contributing construction information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer service standards; resolving problems; identifying construction management system improvements.

• Identify, evaluate, and select subcontractors based on performance and quality workmanship.

• Prepare and submit daily log and reports of construction activities to requiring authority.

• Ensure each subcontractor is provided with TST's subcontract package and all agreements, submittals, required government documents, W-9, Certificate of Insurance, Certified Payroll, Lien Waivers, Schedule of Values, etc. are signed and returned to TST headquarters.

• Schedule and conduct required Pre-Construction Contractor Quality Control (CQC) and safety meetings with every individual on the jobsite.

• Communicate progress of projects to the Project Manager and ensure deadlines are met.

• Provide guidance, as needed, and manage contractors providing services and infrastructure for the project, including schedule and cost management.

• Monitor and ensure the construction schedule, budget, performance, and quality workmanship of contractors are kept in accordance with the plan.

• Review change proposals, proposal requests, requests for information, supplemental instructions, and other contract documentation, as required.

• Review and approve subcontractor payment requests and forward them to the Project Manager for approval.

• Attend local meetings, approval meetings, conferences on behalf of TST. Document and act on items of interests.

• Maintain relationships and act as a liaison in matters associated with Federal, State, and Municipal matters including the City's permitting and construction inspection requirements to ensure expeditions and successful delivery of project goals and objectives.

• Evaluate construction projects by conducting inspections at critical phases; obtain approvals from customers.

• Update job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging construction practices and standards; read professional publications; maintain personal networks; participate in professional organizations.

• Prepare accurate, timely, and detailed monthly project status reports. Reports will include a description of work completed to date, schedule going forward, deviations from previous report, subcontractor change orders and customer issues and/or project scope changes.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED, college degree preferred, but not required.

• Five years of Government contracting experience required.

• Must possess a thorough understanding of Federal construction industry practices and standards.
