Job Title: Office Assistant II (44938)

Job Location s: Virginia Beach, VA 23456

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:15am – 4:30pm

Payrate: $16.33/hr

Responsibilities
  • Read and route incoming mail and assemble files and other materials to facilitate reply by superior.
  • Maintain paper and/or electronic cross-referenced office files and a variety of other records by sorting and indexing materials alphabetically, numerically, and geographically.
  • Serve as a receptionist, greeting and directing clients and visitors at reception desk.
  • Answering telephones and giving general information, routing calls in response to public inquiries.
  • Operate standard office machinery and City standard software applications.
  • Communicate with a variety of people to accomplish daily assignments and disseminate information on the telephone and in person.
  • Maintain professional attitude when dealing with difficult visitors.
  • Maintain professional attendance, punctuality, and appearance in accordance to relevant policies/procedures.
  • Maintain and update resource information and telephone lists.
  • Assist in organization and preparation of projects.
  • Provide administrative support; filing, copying, meeting preparation, documentation of minutes and coordinate follow up actions related to the agency.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED plus one (1) year in a field utilizing the knowledge, skills, and abilities such as clerical or office assistant. Experience in working well with public and good communications skills are a requirement for the position. Candidate must demonstrate strong time management and organizational skills.
