Born Primitive is seeking a Contract Senior Accountant to join our team for an initial 4–6-month contract, with the potential to convert to a full-time role based on performance and business needs. This role will focus on hands-on support of the month-end close process and day-to-day accounting operations in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Key Responsibilities- Focus will be assisting with month-end close processes, ensuring adherence to the month-end close calendar and deadlines
- Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations for assigned areas, including:
- Cash and credit cards
- Accounts Receivable
- Prepaid expenses
- Fixed assets
- Various accruals
- Other assigned balance sheet accounts based on experience and business needs
- Identify month-end reconciling items, propose journal entries, and ensure timely resolution.
- Support accounts payable and expense management processes, as needed
- Maintain and reconcile accounts receivable activity, including:
- AR subledger to general ledger reconciliations
- Customer payment application and clearing accounts
- Identification and cleanup of aged, unusual, or unsupported balances
- Support daily accounting operations including general ledger activities, journal entries, and account reconciliations
- Partner cross-functionally to resolve AR-related issues as needed
- Serve as a technical accounting resource
- Escalate issues with clear recommendations and proposed accounting treatment
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- 4–6+ years of progressive accounting experience (public accounting or industry experience preferred)
- Strong understanding of GAAP and core accounting principles
- Hands-on month-end close ownership is required
- Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems (Net Suite experience a plus)
- Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets
- Retail, e-commerce, or inventory-based business experience a plus
- Ability to operate independently with minimal onboarding
- 4-6 month contract position
- Competitive hourly or contract-based compensation (commensurate with experience)
