This is a hybrid role (weekly onsite work).

The Staff Accountant
, Accounts Payable & Fixed Assets, is responsible for day to day accounting activities related to vendor payables and capital assets. This role ensures accurate and timely processing of invoices, proper recording of capital expenditures, compliance with GAAP, and support of month end close, audits, and financial reporting. This position reports to the Accounting Manager.
- Process and review vendor invoices, employee reimbursements, and payments with accuracy and care to support smooth daily operations for residents and team members.
- Manage weekly check runs, ACH/wire payments, vendor records, AP reconciliations, and annual 1099 reporting to maintain strong financial stewardship.
- Maintain the fixed asset subledger, including additions, disposals, transfers, and CIP tracking, ensuring assets that support resident life are recorded and placed in service timely.
- Ensure proper capitalization, calculate monthly depreciation/amortization, and reconcile fixed assets to the general ledger in alignment with GAAP.
- Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and financial schedules; support month‑end and year‑end close, audits, and periodic asset inventories.
- Uphold internal controls and regulatory requirements while contributing to process improvements that enhance efficiency and strengthen the community's financial foundation.
Education and/or
Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance plus 2-4 years of accounting experience; OR 8 years of accounting experience with exposure to accounts payable and fixed assets.
- Experience with ERP and accounting systems. Net Suite experience preferred.
- Solid understanding of the budgeting process
- Working knowledge of GAAP, particularly related to expense recognition and fixed assets
- Strong Excel skills (formulas, lookups, pivot tables preferred)
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize tasks, and work independently
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with construction in progress or capital project accounting
- Experience in nonprofit, healthcare, real estate, or senior living environments
- CPA or CPA eligible (not required)
