Accounts Payable Clerk

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team on a contract basis in Virginia Beach, Virginia. In this role, you will handle essential tasks related to invoice management, payment processing, and financial record-keeping. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, capable of meeting deadlines, and eager to contribute to the success of a dynamic wood and furniture manufacturing company.

Responsibilities:

- Process invoices accurately and efficiently, ensuring proper coding and compliance with company procedures.

- Conduct regular check runs to ensure timely payments to vendors and suppliers.

- Verify invoice details, including amounts and account codes, to maintain accurate records.

- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve discrepancies and address payment-related issues.

- Maintain organized and up-to-date accounts payable documentation for auditing purposes.

- Assist in reconciling accounts and preparing financial reports as needed.

- Monitor payment schedules and follow up on overdue invoices.

- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards throughout the accounts payable process.

- Provide support for month-end and year-end financial closing activities.

- Respond promptly to vendor inquiries and maintain positive working relationships. Requirements - Proven experience in accounts payable or a related financial role.

- Proficiency in invoice coding and processing.

- Familiarity with conducting check runs and managing payment schedules.

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

- Excellent communication skills for resolving discrepancies and liaising with vendors.

- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.

- Experience with accounting software or ERP systems is a plus.
