Job SummaryThe Count Room Attendant is responsible for collecting and counting cash boxes from the gaming floor and reconciling cash and tickets in the count room in accordance with company Internal Control Policies and Procedures and state regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Collect gaming device drop boxes from HRM machines, kiosks, etc., adhering to the company’s Internal Control Policies and Procedures as well as local and state regulations.
- Record accurate counts of each box in the count system or on sheet.
- Prepare and maintain proper paperwork to support and reconcile all money and tickets counted.
- Utilize count machines in accordance with guidelines.
- Comply with all department and company policies, procedures, internal controls, and government regulations while maintaining necessary confidentiality.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance of count room equipment.
- Maintain general upkeep of the count room.
- Notify the supervisor of malfunctioning equipment.
- Assist other team members in moving and safeguarding the box cart.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Proficiency in basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Knowledge of internal controls, regulations, policies, and procedures related to the Finance department.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft applications and a willingness to learn count room computer applications.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid Virginia Racing Commission License.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced and stressful environment.
- Frequent repetitive motions, manual dexterity, hand‑eye coordination, standing, bending, teamwork, basic math skills, use of a 10‑key calculator, and currency counter.
- Capability to lift, push, and pull up to 25 lbs.
- Occasional requirement to move the box cart weighing up to 400 lbs with other team members.
- May require long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud; exposure to variable crowds, noise, and smoke.
