The EDI Administrator is responsible for managing, building, and optimizing electronic data interchange (EDI) integrations between internal systems and external trading partners. This role is critical to stabilizing and scaling the company’s EDI environment, with leadership prioritizing significant improvements in system maturity and performance.
This is not a ticket-based support role. The organization requires a hands‑on IBM Sterling B2
Bi professional who can build and modify native business process models, develop robust translation maps, and own integrations end‑to‑end. The ideal candidate understands how data flows across systems, can translate business requirements into technical EDI mappings, and proactively resolves mapping and integration issues before they impact operations.
- Design, implement, monitor, and maintain EDI integrations between internal systems and external trading partners
- Build and modify IBM Sterling B2
Bi business process models and translation maps - Configure and manage trading partner setups from onboarding through production deployment
- Ensure adherence to X12 EDI standards and enterprise production best practices
- Monitor system performance and proactively resolve errors, failures, and integration risks
- Business Process Mapping & Technical Execution
- Develop and optimize business process flows within the native B2
Bi tool - Map EDI documents and manage end‑to‑end transaction processing
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex mapping, translation, and integration issues
- Translate functional business requirements into technical EDI solutions
- Archive and manage EDI‑related files and maintain supporting SQL databases
- Configure and maintain UNIX scripts and Java brokers for file movement and automation
- Provide second‑level EDI support to internal IT teams and business stakeholders
- Participate in a rotating on‑call schedule
- Partner & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Lead onboarding of new trading partners, including non‑standard implementations
- Coordinate with external partners to troubleshoot connectivity and data issues
- Maintain thorough documentation of EDI configurations, processes, and procedures
- Support broader IT initiatives and special projects as assigned
- Strong hands‑on experience with IBM Sterling B2
Bi (B2B Integrator) - Proven ability to build and modify business process models within the native B2
Bi platform - Experience developing and maintaining EDI translation maps
- Minimum 2+ years of hands‑on EDI mapping and translation experience
- Minimum 2+ years working with X12 EDI standards
- Experience administering EDI systems in enterprise production environments
- Ability to troubleshoot end‑to‑end EDI transactions from mapping through partner integration
- Strong understanding of data flow across integrated systems
- Proficiency in UNIX/Linux and Windows environments
- Experience with UNIX shell scripting
- Working knowledge of SQL and database queries
- Understanding of TCP/IP networking and EDI communication protocols
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience standing up or stabilizing new EDI environments
- Experience supporting multi‑entity or subsidiary EDI interfaces
- Prior experience in a fast‑paced, scaling organization
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Information Systems, or related field — or equivalent professional experience
- This role requires a proactive, technically strong EDI professional capable of owning integrations end‑to‑end rather than operating solely in a support capacity
