Role:
The Maintenance Manager will report to the Vice President of Operations and Technical Services and is responsible for the safe, timely, and cost-effective execution of facility and equipment maintenance in a glass manufacturing environment. This role directly supports continuous operations by maintaining plant infrastructure and managing preventive and corrective maintenance programs. It requires close coordination with Engineering, Production, Quality, and external contractors to meet company objectives.
The Maintenance Manager will also lead a small team of technicians and contribute to the site’s culture of safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.
Essential Job Functions:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the Maintenance Department, ensuring machine uptime and reliability.
- Maintain and execute the Preventive Maintenance (PM) program through MP2, ensuring timely completion and documentation of all scheduled tasks.
- Perform or oversee diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems including PLCs, AC/DC drives, sensors, HVAC, and control panels.
- Maintain plant utilities and infrastructure including lighting, compressed air systems, water systems, and building maintenance.
- Support, coordinate, and verify work performed by third-party contractors or vendors (e.g., electricians, HVAC, riggers).
- Serve as the departmental requisitioner for parts, supplies, and equipment. Maintain maintenance inventory to support uninterrupted operations.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and other applicable regulations including fire safety systems and water well permits.
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives and meetings related to safety, quality, production planning, and customer requirements.
- Maintain clean and organized maintenance work spaces; model and promote 5S principles.
- Conduct performance evaluations and support the development of assigned maintenance personnel.
- Identify and implement maintenance process improvements to enhance equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
- Strong hands-on mechanical and electrical aptitude in an industrial setting.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals.
- Strong organizational and planning skills to manage multiple work orders and PM schedules.
- Clear communication skills to coordinate with internal teams and outside vendors.
- Self-directed and able to make sound technical decisions with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with CMMS (MP2 preferred) and general computer proficiency (email, spreadsheets, documentation).
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, lifting, and working in hot or confined environments.
Required:
- Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Experience maintaining equipment in a manufacturing environment, preferably glass or other high-heat processes.
- Working knowledge of OSHA and facility safety regulations.
