The nursing support staff assumes responsibilities for direct care of assigned patients in collaboration with providers in patient care departments. Provides services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of practice. A float position means that you have a home department; however, you will be required to cover other clinics in Knox and surrounding counties as needed.

$2,000 sign‑on bonus for any new full‑time CMA.

• Supports and adheres to the organization’s mission, vision and values.
• Performs triage activities, rooming patients for providers, and updates EMR as directed for each patient according to FHC policy.
• Assists provider during patient appointment as requested.
• Performs office procedures as directed and per department specific competencies.
• Provides patients with written instructions regarding procedures, medications, or follow‑up instructions at the direction of the provider.
• Administers medications per the provider order.
• Assists patients with coordination of care activities including, but not limited to: telephone interactions with patients, families, pharmacies, and/or others as necessary for the care of the patient, patient check‑in or check‑out, coordination of referrals, medication calls, and prior authorizations.
• Provides assistance with prescription medication refills per department protocols and works with pharmacies for medication refills and prior authorization of medications, notifying patients of refills, and documenting actions within the EMR per provider orders.
• Maintains department specific competencies related to point of care testing, equipment handling, and specialty training.
• Complies with all regulatory, state and federal regulations as well as FHC policies and procedures.
• Obtains and maintains required competencies for role.
• Adheres to all infection control and prevention policies and procedures.
• Maintains a clean and stocked office, as directed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Mental: Demonstrates knowledge of the physical and psychosocial needs of the patient population. Must exhibit communication skills and ability to work with providers as well as other members of the multi‑disciplinary treatment team. Ability to interpret written and verbal orders by the providers.

Physical: Occasionally lifts, pushes and transfers patients; lifts supplies and large equipment; requires manual dexterity and mobility; occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching; visual acuity for reading thermometers and equipment and for recording in the EMR; must have the capability to drive.

Skill: Must be able to communicate effectively, use patient care equipment, and work with computers.
