Role Overview

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • In this position, you will supervise and mentor the In-house designers for the Vincennes District.
  • Participate in the development of goals for the division's strategic plan, assist in preparing division budgets, and lead an engineering team.
  • Monitor programs to ensure policy and best practices are actively deployed.
  • The Highway Engineer Supervisor assures accurate and timely updating of management information systems as they relate to the delivery of the program, and ensures their business rules, policies, and procedures are implemented and maintained as standard business practice in their designated work environments.
  • In this position, the manager will be a resource for both direct reports along with other internal customers and an advisor to outside customer inquiries.

    Salary Statement

    The salary for this position traditionally starts at $93,002.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

    This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.

    What You'll Need for Success

    This person must have the following requirements to be considered for employment:

    • Must have a Professional Engineer license in Indiana.
    • Must have an Indiana driver’s license.
    • Graduation in an approved engineering curriculum of four (4) years and professional experience in engineering, civil engineering, transportation research, or a closely related field, with demonstrated ability to apply the required knowledge, skills, and competencies in a similar role.
    • Must be able to read and interpret various contracts, plans, laws, administrative rules, and regulations.
    • Effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
