Overview
Position Summary
The Industrial Maintenance Technician located in Ville Platte, La is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems across the facility. This role supports safe and reliable operations by performing preventive maintenance, addressing equipment issues in a timely manner, and ensuring all facility rolling stock — including forklifts and aerial lifts — remains in optimal working condition. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, safety‑focused, and skilled in both mechanical and electrical diagnostics.
Key ResponsibilitiesEquipment Operation & Maintenance
- Operate overhead cranes and other lifting equipment safely and efficiently.
- Diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on forklifts, aerial lifts (scissor lifts, boom lifts), golf carts, tuggers, and other rolling stock within the facility.
- Maintain and repair industrial machinery including motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, and other mechanical systems.
- Perform troubleshooting on electrical and mechanical problems, distinguishing between the two and making accurate repair recommendations.
Technical Competencies
- Read, interpret, and apply mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and blueprints used within the maintenance department.
- Utilize maintenance documentation systems, CMMS software, and databases to record work, track parts, and update equipment status.
- Understand and follow the facility’s machine monitoring program, including vibration analysis, lubrication schedules, and equipment performance tracking.
- Be proficient with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment common to the industrial mechanic trade.
Continuous Improvement & Preventive Maintenance
- Identify opportunities for preventive maintenance and propose improvements to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
- Use the guiding principles and tools of the Manufacturing System (Lean, 5S, Kaizen, TPM, etc.) to drive continuous improvement and enhance equipment reliability.
- Support root‑cause analysis and corrective action implementation for recurring equipment issues.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all facility safety procedures, lock‑out/tag‑out protocols, and equipment-specific safety requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.
- Ensure repairs and modifications meet regulatory and facility standards.
- Experience in industrial maintenance or mechanical repair (facility-specific experience preferred).
- Ability to safely operate cranes, forklifts, aerial lifts, and other industrial equipment.
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently or within a team environment.
- Basic computer proficiency for documentation and CMMS use.
Must have the legal right to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
Ability to lift, climb, kneel, and work in a manufacturing/facility environment.
