This position is responsible for enrolling & completing the Level 1 training course provided by Petsense, "Paragon," in preparation for a career in grooming and/or bathing.

Paragon is a virtual distant learning program where students undergo a 15-week training designed to teach fundamentals in bathing and grooming, along with safety, pet first aid, CPR, pet handling, dog anatomy, and physiology. Training involves hands-on practice, book work, online exams, videos, and photo submissions for grading.

As a Team Member, you should be available, flexible, adaptable, and service-oriented, capable of fulfilling the following:

• Maintain regular attendance and work scheduled shifts, including varied hours, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
• Support selling initiatives by engaging with customers and pets, thanking customers, advising on products/services, and creating memorable experiences.
• As a Groom Tech in Training, learn and perform duties such as:
• Enroll & complete the Paragon Level 1 training within five weeks.
• Safe pet handling, bathing, drying, brushing, combing, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and preparatory trimming.
• Basic clipper and finishing techniques, customer service, professionalism, equipment maintenance.
• Ensure animal safety, inspect for health issues, practice safety protocols, and maintain sanitation.
• Assist with business generation activities, record keeping, and operate store equipment.
• Handle live animals safely, including cleaning and maintaining holding areas.
• Complete all documentation related to duties and perform other tasks as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Comfort working with dogs and cats, demonstrating patience and compassion.
• Own tools (clippers, blades, shears) or willingness to purchase them.
• High school diploma or equivalent; ability to read, write, and count accurately.

• Operate grooming tools and equipment effectively.
• Effective communication, compassion, attention to detail, problem-solving, and basic computer skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and issue resolution abilities.

• Indoor environment with moderate noise, exposure to grooming equipment, pets, and waste.
• Wet conditions during bathing, exposure to animals of various sizes and temperaments.
• Shifts typically from 4 to over 8 hours, promoting safety and adherence to guidelines.

• Move and transfer animals and equipment up to 50 pounds.
• Stand for long periods, operate grooming tools, and perform physical tasks like bending, kneeling, and reaching.
• Operate store equipment and communicate effectively.
• Position is non-sedentary with high physical and mental stamina requirements.
