Position SummaryEngineering technicians perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks. They must have strong electrical and mechanical skills to support the production technician in maintaining an efficient operation. The role may require licenses to work with boilers, refrigeration, and other equipment. Ongoing training is expected due to evolving technology. Engineering Technicians IV should be proficient in all required skillsets at the current level and lower levels if applicable.
Technicians rotate job assignments across engineering and production and contribute to a safe work environment. Proficiency in SAP (data input, data retrieval, reporting, and other functions) and competency in on-the-job activities affecting product safety, legality, and/or quality are required.
Position Responsibilities
- Performs assigned preventative maintenance tasks.
- Performs scheduled maintenance on plant equipment and machinery.
- Responds to and corrects equipment stoppage and mechanical breakdowns. Troubleshoots as needed. Repairs or replaces worn/defective parts, motors, control devices, etc.
- Operates machine shop equipment, hand tools, and power tools; fabricates required parts when necessary.
- Maintains cleanliness of the work area.
- Practices and complies with all company policies and procedures, including safety and work rules.
- Complies with company policies and procedures (EEO, Harassment, Safety, Sarbanes-Oxley, etc.).
- Performs other duties that management deems integral to the job, including meeting work schedules and attendance policies.
Preferred Qualifications
One or more years of experience as a Technician and/or formal training. Experience in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning; welding, electronics, electrical repairs, industrial equipment installations, alignment, start-up repairs, etc.
- Must meet/maintain CDC food handling requirements and other governmental and/or customer requirements.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and follow necessary safety procedures and signs.
- Ability to wear and use approved safety equipment as needed.
- Ability to research, develop, implement, and monitor required policies and procedures.
- Ability to work in a 50°F to 120°F environment.
Essential
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent plus at least a 9/12 month vocational/technical certification. Substitute options include equivalent military training, other related technical training, or two or more years of college education.
- Other technical training may include completing the AIB maintenance engineering course.
