Overview

A well-established commercial construction firm is seeking an accomplished Vice President of Construction to oversee its Construction Services Department. This executive-level leader will be responsible for driving operational excellence across a diverse portfolio of commercial projects while leading senior project teams and supporting the company's continued growth. Education and/or municipal project experience is required for success in the role.

This role offers the opportunity to step into a high-impact leadership position with significant influence over construction operations, team development, and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Construction Services Department.
• Oversee all construction activities across multiple commercial project types.
• Lead and mentor Project Executives, Project Managers, Superintendents, and support staff.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.
• Establish and enforce company-wide construction policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Drive consistency in project controls, including scheduling, cost management, and reporting.
• Collaborate with preconstruction and estimating teams on pursuits, planning, and risk mitigation.
• Serve as a senior point of contact for clients, design teams, and key trade partners.
• Identify and proactively resolve operational, staffing, and project-related challenges.
• Support business development efforts, including interviews and strategic planning initiatives.
• Monitor performance metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives across the department.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline (advanced degree a plus).
• 15+ years of progressive experience in commercial construction.
• Education and/or municipal projects experience is required
• Demonstrated success in senior leadership roles overseeing multiple projects and teams.
• Strong financial and contract management expertise.
• Broad experience across diverse commercial project types.
• Proven ability to lead high-performing teams and manage complex operational challenges.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and client-facing skills.
