Position SummaryUnder the direction of the Program Supervisor, the Pool Manager is responsible for the daily operation of Jefferson Swimming Pool. This includes supervising, scheduling, and evaluating lifeguards, pool ambassadors and cashiers; customer service; routine maintenance; daily revenue accounting; and organizing special events. This position involves considerable contact with the public.
Duties And Responsibilities- One Pool Manager must be on duty when the swimming pool is open to the public, during private parties, special events, and other dates as requested by the Program Supervisor and/or Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation.
- The Pool Manager is responsible for all activities at the swimming pool during scheduled hours. Pool Manager must report to work a minimum of 30 minutes prior to the pool opening and Pool Manager must remain until all closing procedures are completed and all staff and patrons have safely left the facility and grounds.
- Co‑Managers will work together to schedule, supervise and evaluate lifeguards, pool ambassadors and cashiers. The Pool Managers must ensure that an adequate number of each work group is on duty at all times. The Co‑Managers will recommend direction for staff as needed to the Program Supervisor and Co‑Managers will submit a written performance evaluation on each employee at the conclusion of the pool season.
The Co‑Managers oversee the collection and accounting of pool fees and charges, complete the daily revenue report, and deliver it as instructed. - Attend weekly management team meetings from 9:00-10:00 am on Fridays and in cooperation with the Aquatic Management team conduct weekly staff in‑service trainings Fridays from 10:00-11:30 am.
- Maintain all Recreation Department, DuPage County, and other forms as required. When the DuPage County Health Inspector visits the pool, Pool Manager is to escort them around the facility, test the pool water using our test kit and reagents along with them, and ensure that the inspection report is included in the daily receipts bag. All forms required by the DuPage County Health Department or the Recreation Department must be filled out and submitted in a timely basis.
- Must be able to perform all job responsibilities in a safe manner and follow all Village safety related policies; maintain effective public relations and communication with staff and patrons; receive and handle complaints from staff and pool patrons; enforce all pool rules and regulations, discipline pool patrons and staff when necessary.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Program Supervisor, and Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation.
- Must be a minimum 18 years of age.
- Must have previous supervisory and/or management experience, preferably in an aquatic environment.
- Must possess strong communication skills and have the ability to receive and de‑escalate complaints from pool patrons.
- Must possess the ability to relate well to the public and other staff members.
- Must have strong leadership, organizational and customer service skills knowledge and experience.
- Must possess accurate cash‑handling skills.
- Must be able to respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies.
- Must be First Aid/CPR/AED certified before May 11. Preferred candidates certified as an American Red Cross Lifeguard and Lifeguard instructor.
