Senior System Analyst (System Analyst V) Role SummaryThe Senior System Analyst partners with Product Managers, Product Owners, engineering teams, and business stakeholders to define, analyze, and deliver high quality data products and applications. This role has a strong focus on data analysis, requirements definition, and lifecycle support across enterprise data platforms, with an emphasis on financial services and mortgage data. The position is for onsite work at Reston Town Center location.
No remote candidate is considered.
- Partner with business units and subject matter experts to identify, analyze, and refine business and technical requirements for data driven applications and products under development or enhancement.
- Document detailed functional requirements and data mappings, including attribute level source to target mappings, transformations, and derivations for specific applications or data products.
- Perform end to end data analysis throughout the product lifecycle to ensure delivery of high quality, trusted data solutions. Analysis activities may include:
- Data gathering, profiling, and aggregation
- Requirements creation and refinement
- Data structure and modeling recommendations
- Metadata standardization and dataset registration
- Source to target mapping and transformation design
- Impact analysis and upstream/downstream dependency assessment
- Data validation and reconciliation
- Review, contribute to, and maintain requirements, design, and test documentation, ensuring alignment across business, product, and technology teams.
- Support application and data product testing by contributing to test plans, executing user acceptance testing (UAT), and evaluating test results in partnership with development and testing teams.
- Collaborate closely with the Product Owner and Product Manager to support product vision, backlog refinement, roadmap planning, and release management.
- May lead analysis efforts for small projects or own significant work streams within larger, complex initiatives.
- Provide business domain, data, technology expertise, and prepare or contribute to briefings and updates for application owners and stakeholders at key stages of delivery.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field - Experience:
8–10 years of relevant experience in systems analysis, data analysis, or product aligned delivery roles
- Advanced experience performing data analysis across the product or application lifecycle within financial services or banking; mortgage industry experience strongly preferred
- Strong proficiency in SQL; development experience with Tableau;
Python development experience is a plus - Deep understanding of Agile methodologies, with hands on experience using Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence);
Product Owner experience preferred - Demonstrated ability to translate complex data and technical concepts into clear, actionable requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with excellent problem solving, analytical thinking, and attention to detail
- Proven ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across product, engineering, and stakeholder teams
