Customer Service Rep
Position: Usher (Seasonal) – National Park Service – Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts
Position SummaryResponsible for contact with audience and managing sections of front‑house operations. The incumbent plans, schedules, and assigns work, providing technical and policy direction. The seasonal entry‑on‑duty period is April‑December with potential variation due to weather, project needs, or funding.

- Greet, direct, inform, and assist patrons with facility orientation and complaint resolution.
- Provide clear, tactful oral communication to patrons and fellow staff members.
- Resolve patron complaints concerning performance and environmental issues within the theater.
- Provide resolution to complaints from lower level staff and volunteers.
- Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
- Participation in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- Wear a uniform that complies with the National Park Service uniform standards (uniform allowance provided).
- Minimum age and education requirements: 18 years old, or 16 years old with qualifying high‑school or equivalent credentials, vocational training, a statement from school authorities, or enrollment in a secondary schooling program with permissible work hours.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Work may include on‑call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime, and shift work, with an intermittent scheduling model.
- Position may shift from part‑time to full‑time or on‑call based on workload changes.
All qualifications must be met by the closing date unless otherwise stated. Credit will be given for appropriate qualifying experience, provided the resume clearly indicates duties, dates, and hours worked. To qualify for the GS‑04 grade level, applicants must have:
- Experience: At least one full year of specialized experience at the GS‑03 level, or equivalent, with a minimum of 40 hours per week (part‑time hours prorated). Full‑time experience must be credited at 40 hours per week.
- Education: Successful completion of at least two years above high school.
- Combination: The sum of education (as a percentage of two years) and experience (as a percentage of 12 months at 40 hours per week) must equal at least 100 % to qualify.
Applicants using foreign education must provide evaluated credentials equivalent to a U.S. institution. Required documentation (transcripts, proof of hours) must be submitted with the application.
Physical DemandsThe incumbent will stand for extended periods, be both sedentary and active, lift, bend, and climb stairs. Work includes night, weekend, and lengthy daytime performances. Mental stress and fatigue may occur due to high personal contact volume and occasional emergency responses.
Working ConditionsWork is performed outdoors in variable climate conditions. The position is not suitable for telework. No public transportation to the park is available.
