About the role
The Learning Experience Designer II independently designs and develops engaging, scalable learning experiences that strengthen employee performance, operational performance, and patient care. You apply advanced instructional design, performance consulting, and project management skills to create scalable learning solutions that drive measurable results.
You manage learning projects of broad scope and significant impact and complexity, partnering with subject matter experts (SMEs), field leaders, and business partners to identify performance gaps, recommend learning strategies, and evaluate outcomes to ensure alignment with business goals and measurable impact. This role represents a professional level of design maturity — blending creativity with strategic alignment — and serves as a mentor and resource to junior designers within the team.
This role will report to the Director, Learning Experience Design.
This is a hybrid remote role, offering a flexible work arrangement out of either our Raleigh, NC or Vienna, VA offices with an in‑office requirement of two days per week.
You Will- Design and develop comprehensive, blended learning experiences and content independently using design methodologies: eLearning, blended learning, videos, facilitator guides, simulations, demonstrations and job aids
- Manage learning projects of moderate to high complexity from scoping to implementation, ensuring alignment with timelines, standards, and business objectives.
- Apply instructional design, adult-learning theory, user experience (UX) principles, and creative storytelling to create intuitive and engaging solutions that drive measurable behavior and performance change
- Exercise independent judgment on design strategy, modality selection, and implementation approach based on audience, performance goals, and business needs.
- Optimize tools and technology; introduce efficiencies, integrate LMS/LXP features, and manage vendor partnerships to enhance scalability and user experience.
- Review and maintain templates and design standards; provide peer feedback to ensure quality and consistency across deliverables.
- Mentor Learning Experience Designer I team members through design reviews, feedback, and collaboration.
- Build cross‑functional partnerships with SMEs, HRBPs, and business leaders to consult on assessing capability gaps and translate business needs into actionable learning outcomes.
- Package and deploy learning through LMS, Task Management tools, Microsoft, or other platforms; ensure readiness for launch and sustained engagement.
- Contribute to field readiness through implementation toolkits, facilitator coaching, and performance support resources
- Monitor rollout progress and learner participation, addressing issues or barriers as they arise.
- Define learning objectives and apply evaluation methods and success metrics for assigned programs; collect and analyze learner data and feedback to evaluate effectiveness and business impact
- Recommend updates and continuous improvements to enhance learning quality, engagement, and scalability.
- Stay informed on emerging learning technologies, methods, and design innovations.
- Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth through ongoing learning and certification opportunities.
- Contribute to advancing My Eye Dr .’s overall learning strategy and design capability.
- 7+ years of experience in instructional design, eLearning development, or learning consulting; experience in a multi‑unit or high‑growth organization preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Communications, Learning & Development, or related field
- Advanced proficiency with authoring and creative tools (Articulate Storyline, Rise, Vyond, Walk Me, Adobe Captivate, Canva)
- Deep understanding of adult learning theory, instructional frameworks (ADDIE, SAM, Kirkpatrick), and data‑driven evaluation methods
- Proven ability to manage multiple, high‑visibility projects independently and communicate effectively with cross‑functional stakeholders
- Strong storytelling, writing, and visual design skills
- Experience mentoring peers and/or coordinating vendor design efforts preferred
